Great service, lovely menu. Honestly everything ok the menu is likely delicious but as you can’t eat it all we had to make some tough decisions. Carpaccio was a knockout, and the first restaurant we’ve managed to find with it on the menu in NZ since returning from years in Europe where it’s found everywhere! Gnocchi and braised lamb shoulder were amazing mains, as were the tiramisu and crème brûlée for dessert. Nice drinks menu also. Service staff were super attentive. Special mention to Ingrid who was super lovely and knowledgeable. Best restaurant we’ve found since getting back in 2023, and will be back for sure. Recommended.

Finished 2025 with a NYE 6 course menu at Semola…and they didn’t disappoint! Every course was delicious from the tempura oyster mushroom to the snapper and cheesecake dessert! Thanks very much. We will be back!

Sensational! Spotted Semola some time ago while strolling through Orewa and finally got around to coming on Saturday night and did not disappoint. Started off for a drink in the Whiskey Bar, which is just gorgeous (just like relaxing in a fancy lounge), before moving to a table in the restaurant. Absolutely gorgeous decor all round. The service is bang on from the moment you walk in until paying and leaving. All young people, but clearly picked & trained to the highest standard, no pretentiousness here. Food was superb 👌 I would describe Semola as very classy and like fine dining. Only comment is that the music does not match the setting. We will definitely be back. HIGHLY recommend 👍🍸😊❤️

I gave this place the benefit of the doubt with a second chance, figuring the first visit's fiasco might've been a rogue asteroid of bad service. Alas, round two plummeted straight into the Bermuda Triangle of hospitality—rude, blatantly disrespectful, and served with a side of eye-rolls that could curdle milk. Even the bar staff looked like they were auditioning for a sympathy card, cringing harder than a cat at a cucumber convention as our so-called waiter unleashed his inner storm cloud on the poor patrons.Folks, Orewa's got a constellation of stellar spots that won't leave you plotting revenge via Yelp. Steer clear of this vibe, unless you're scouting for a masterclass in how not to wait tables. Bon appétit... elsewhere!
